Inferring inter-domain relationships in randomly generated network models

Abstract

Links between autonomous systems making up Internet are of different types. Relationships introduced by link types impose a hierarchical structure upon the global network. This structure may influence the operating of inter-domain routing protocols. In order to validate a new inter-domain protocol we must have a model of hierarchised network at our disposal. To the best at our knowledge, there is not any structural random topology generator which is adapted to represent the Internet hierarchy. We try to infer this hierarchy from randomly generated topologies. We choose BRITE which is a commonly used network topology generator.
