Preisach modelling of ferroelectric behaviour

Abstract : The aim of this paper is to present a one dimensional Preisach [1] modelling of the hysteretic behaviour of the electrical polarization P versus the electrical field E. This model is applied to a soft ferroelectric material (classified P188) and it is shown that the piezoelectric butterfly loop of the mechanical stress S versus E is deduced from the P(E) behaviour. The centred cycles method [2] is used to obtain the Preisach's density. With this method only a few experimental cycles can be used to characterize the hysteretic P(E) behaviour.
