Far-Field Antenna Calculation Based on Randomly Distributed Near-Field Measurement Data

Résumé

The aim of this work is the implementation and the validation of the far-field calculation based on irregular near field measurement data. This technique allows the near-field spectrum calculation from the irregularly near-field samples, which are randomly distributed over a 3D surface. The spacing between consecutive near-field samples can be almost larger than λ/2. This irregularity is attributed to probe positioning errors during the antenna under test characterization. The proposed algorithm allows efficient processing of near-field data with known probe positions to determine the antenna far-field. The mathematical formalism and the stability of this proposed technique are presented. The effect of reduced signal to noise ratio is studied. The proposed method has been implemented using Matlab software. The numerical validations using analytical radiating model and electromagnetic software results show the efficiency and the stability of the proposed technique.
