Impact de l 'environnement marin sur la formation du dépot calco-magnésien: rôle de la matière organique

Abstract : In seawater, during the application of cathodic protection on carbon steel, a calcareous deposit built on its surface. This deposit formation is interesting because it contributes to the protective effect of cathodic protection; it is a barrier of oxygen diffusion. The understanding of deposit formation and the influence of various physical and chemical parameters on its properties is essential in the search for the improvement of the performances of the cathodic protection systems. The goal of this study is to determine the role of organic matter concentration on deposit formation and its properties. In artificial seawater, the calcareous deposits formed in presence of organic matter in opened and coastal ocean concentrations, present similar characteristics. An excessive organic matter concentration inhibits calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide precipitations.
