Physically motivated approximations in some inverse scattering problems

Abstract : In this paper we review some approximate methods in inverse scattering problems. The approximations are physically motivated and allow more physical insight than in rigorous approaches. The methods are described along with their advantages and limitations, and when possible, general indications on approximate methods are mentioned.
