Energy based a posteriori analysis for finite element modeling of elastic wave propagation in heterogeneous media

Résumé

This work deals with a posteriori quality control for FE modeling of high frequency wave propagation in heterogeneous media. Special attention should be paid here in the defini- tion of numerical models to ensure accuracy of solutions and optimality of computation costs. Herein, we propose to qualify the numerical waves in terms of energy densities governed by ra- diative transfer equations, obtained by a multi-scale asymptotic analysis and Wigner transforms. Radiative transfer residuals of FE wave solutions are used to build a posteriori error analysis.
