Homogenization of cyclic loading on viscoplastic offshore foundations.

Abstract : The numerical analysis of a structure subjected to cyclic loading with a large number of cycles is discussed. A simplified solution is derived by homogenization of the loading history in the limiting case when the cycle time becomes zero. Experimental verification is carried out on fatigue tests on the bentonite clay. Application to an offshore foundation subjected to the cyclic loading of waves is also presented assuming a viscoplastic constitutive equation for the clay ground. (A)
