Abstract

"In this paper we present a new methodology to develop SDR - Software Defined Radio - equipments, called MOPCOM methodology. This methodology is based on UML/MDE approach, to design high quality real-time embedded systems. The MOPCOM methodology defines a set of rules to build UML models for embedded systems, from which HDL code is automatically generated by means of MDE - Model driven Engineering - techniques. This is based on the MARTE profile, of the OMG, as an UML extension to describe real-time properties and perform platform modeling. Three abstraction levels are defined: abstract, execution and detailed modeling levels (AML, EML and DML, respectively). We will detail in this paper the middle MOPCOM level (EML) design rules in order to explore the architecture of the platform and the partitioning of software and hardware. The case study of a SDR transceiver will be detailed."
