Synthesis and formulation of a bactericide polyurethane varnish

Abstract : Environmentally friendly paints are up to date due to the increase of toxicological regulations. This practical work will enable us to synthesize a polyurethane varnish (more simple than a paint) but with the advantage of being bactericide by contact with leaving organisms and not by release of toxic compounds as it is often carried out. The bactericide function is a quaternary ammonium salt which will be introduced into the oligomer by a synthesis in two steps (formation of a polyol). The last work consists in a formulation of this product as well as to obtain a polyurethane varnish with physical properties compatible with microbiological tests.
